Health + tech — concept to over 1M app users

My role

I led the creation of this app, taking it from concept to development. Phase 1, I worked with a strategist to research with users and define the brand and features based on this research. The output of this phase was a high fidelity prototype, showing what it could look like, how it could work, in order to get funding. Phase 2 was about the prioritisation of features, refining the UX/UI and working with 2 developers to make it real.

Problem

Over half of the population is affected by menopause, but it's rarely discussed. In an already emotional time, the subject becomes even more difficult due to a lack of expertise and outdated information about treatments. It's not easy to find menopause experts, so their clinics can be pricey. Our client asked us to look into the appetite for a digital solution. The goal was to break the taboo.

Solution

During our research we found that people were overwhelmed and confused by the amount of conflicting information available online. Mostly, however, they felt isolated.

We created an app that provides free menopause content written by menopause experts, formatted into manageable articles, and personalised by the sign up process. The app aims to create a safe space to talk honestly, a community of people living through the same challenges.
